# A plant cannot pause while software is being worked out

A line runs whether or not the system above it is ready. So MESCATOR runs against real production at our own risk first, and the first plants come after that. When the form opens it will ask for an email address and roughly what you make.

## Why there is nothing to fill in

Because a plant cannot run a half-finished system alongside a real schedule. If the software is wrong about what is on the line, the cost is not an awkward report — it is a missed shipment, and the customer does not care whose software it was.

## What the waitlist will be for

One field, an email address, and optionally what you make and roughly how many people work there — because the first plants will be chosen for fit, and for a validated or heavily regulated operation the honest answer will be that this is not the right system yet.

## What the first conversation will cover

What your equipment can actually be read from, where the real bottleneck is, and how a works order currently gets from the office to the floor and back. That last one usually explains most of the variance a plant sees at month end.

The blog carries the reasoning: why the system and the floor disagree, why machine data never reaches a commercial decision, why traceability for an audit is not traceability for a recall, why promise dates from standard times are guesses, and why nothing we build will ever write to a machine.
